Preventing Overtraining in Youth Athletes Through Proper Rest and Recovery Practices

Overtraining in youth athletes is a common issue that can lead to long-term performance decrements.

It is often caused by excessive training without proper rest and recovery.

Parents and coaches should be aware of the signs of overtraining, such as fatigue, depression, and lack of motivation.

To prevent overtraining, youth athletes should prioritize sleep, nutrition, and recovery methods like massage and mobility work.

It is also essential to incorporate off-days into the training schedule to allow for mental and physical rest.

By monitoring workload and implementing proper recovery strategies, overtraining can be avoided in young athletes.
